The leaves are turning, and the air is getting crisp. Fall is officially here, which means it’s sweet treat season! Finding activities for the whole family to enjoy together can be tricky, but we’re mixing up some family-friendly fall treat ideas that are sure to get your kids gathered around the kitchen island making memories.

Check a few easy ideas for sweets to make this season:

Caramel Apples

Nothing screams “fall” like a sweet and crunchy caramel apple. This treat is perfect for kids of all ages, since the prep time is quick, and the decorating options are endless. First, select a few tart apples, like Granny Smith or Fuji. Be sure to rinse the apples well to remove the waxy coating that prevents the caramel from sticking. Also, make sure the apples are nice and cold. Remove the apple’s stem and insert a caramel apple stick. You can either make a homemade caramel dip or simply melt caramel candies in the microwave with a little milk. Once you have all the apples rolled in the caramel dip, start sprinkling your tasty decorations while the sticky caramel is still hot.

Topping Ideas:

  • Chocolate chips and marshmallows
  • Chopped pistachios and white chocolate
  • Crushed Oreos
  • Crushed Butterfingers

Acorn Treats

Here’s another no-bake idea that only requires three ingredients. With mini chocolate chips to melt for your “glue,” chocolate kisses and Nutter Butter Bites, your family can start assembling edible acorns! These are great to serve at a party or deliver to neighbors as a sweet fall gift.

Fall Snack Mix

This is the perfect treat to make for those cozy movie nights on the couch or to package in baggies to hand out to friends. You can play around with different ingredients.

Add to a large mixing bowl:

  • 2 cups kettle corn popcorn
  • 1 cup Reese’s Puffs cereal
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows

Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

These fluffy cakelike sandwiches are melt-in-your-mouth good. To make the filling, there’s plenty of mixing and whisking for the little ones to tackle, so this recipe will keep everyone busy in the kitchen. The prep time is around 30 minutes, and they bake for 10 minutes per batch. The activity will be quick and easy, but the memories will last a lifetime! Check out the full recipe here.
